Single Stream Recycling
Escondido Disposal implemented a Single Stream Recycling program for residential customers at the end of February 2000. With Escondido Disposal's Recycling Program, recycling has never been easier! Each single family home resident in the City of Escondido receives a 65 Gallon Wheeled cart in which to collect ALL household recyclable items - Collected all mixed together! Simply commingle recyclable materials in the blue automated cart and wheel it to the curb for collection. The program was designed to increase recycling, by making it easier for residents to recycle, which in turn would assist the City in achievement mandated waste diversion goals.
For Commercial Bin Recycling - please go to Commercial & Industrial Collection Service for details.
In an effort to avoid interruption in your Single Stream Recycling Service, please remember the following:
- Carts need to be placed in the street, arrows on the lid pointing toward the street. The reason this is so important is when the driver dumps a cart that is facing the curb, objects like glass bottles bounce of the lids, fly over the top of the truck and land on the other side. When this happens, then it becomes a safety issue.
- Place the cart at least two feet from any objects such as cars, trees, mailboxes, walls and other trash and green containers. Please be careful not to place carts in areas of traffic, such as bike lanes, in order to avoid blocking paths of travel.
- Carts need to be out in the street no later than 6:00 am or the night before. The cart is for recycle materials only. Do not place trash or greens in the cart.
